High Performance General Info

Region High Performance programs are the regional branches of USA Volleyball’s National High Performance Program. Region HP Programs are operated by the USAV Region that sponsors the program in order to provide junior athletes with high-level training and skill development with some of the top coaches in that region.

Many regions (including the Great Lakes Region) send teams to USA All-Star Championships, providing more athletes across the country the opportunity to compete in the highest-level international junior tournament available in the United States. The Great Lakes Region offers an indoor-only High Performance program. It does not offer its own Beach HP program.

Not familiar with High Performance? Here’s just a few of the great perks:

  • Expose athletes to high-level college (NCAA and NAIA) recruiters who attend the international tournament.
  • Offer a college-like sports experience where athletes learn what it is like to be treated like an elite-level athlete.
  • Be a part of independent travel experience led by highly certified Great Lakes Region staff and HP Coaches
  • Gain exposure to elite level coaching provided by the Midwest’s highest level club and college coaches.
  • Compete and train alongside other all-star caliber athletes from around the Great Lakes Region.
  • Play against other all-star teams from around the country and the world

USAV N'tl Development Program (Indoor)

This program is operated by USA Volleyball (not the Great Lakes Region). Many athletes in the past have trained in the USAV National Team Development Program (NTDP), which in turn gives more athletes from Wisconsin the opportunity to train with our Great Lakes Region High Performance program.

NTDP encompasses identification, evaluation, training, development, and international competition across all three disciplines (beach, indoor and sitting) of volleyball, building a pipeline to the podium. The mission of the NTDP is to identify, train and develop elite athletes and coaches to build a sustainable pipeline of future Olympians and Paralympians. NTDP bridges the gap between our Senior U.S. National Teams and high potential athletes.

TRYOUT INFORMATION

The National Team Development Program no longer uses at tryout system. Instead, a network of coaches and recruiters (many of whom are college coaches) scout potential NTDP at tournaments in their respective areas.

USAV N'tl Development Program (Outdoor)

The USA Volleyball Beach National Team Development Program is the most prestigious junior beach volleyball program in the country and is recognized as one of the premier international pipeline development programs in the world. Similar to the indoor programs that are run, there are different levels and camps for the Beach HP program.

USAV Indoor HP Championships

The USA All-Star Championships are one of the premier indoor events of the season, drawing close to 150 boys and girls teams from the USAV HP programs, the Regional HP programs and international programs to compete in the elite, five-day event. Previously registered international teams include Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Dominican Republic, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru and Puerto Rico.

Each year, the Great Lakes Region proudly sends its own High Performance teams comprised of the region’s top talent to represent the state at this high-profile event.
